This
page describes the general rules and conditions that we run the Tournament
Operation under. It is important that you fully understand how the
Tournament system work. The sections covered are:

TOURNAMENT TYPES AND CLASSIFICATIONS
Tournaments
are run approximately 4 times per week. Each Tournament has a Type
and Class.

Tournament Types:

Amateur
Non-Ranked - Amateur tournaments are free to enter. We may
give away prizes for these tournaments once the number of entrants
gets to a reasonable level. Non-ranked tournaments mean that there
are no ranking points given to the top placegetters. The robot cost-to-build
limit is typically lower than for professional tournament, being around
40,000 credits.

Amateur
Ranked - These tournaments are also free-to-enter, but the
top placegetters get ranking points awarded. For this reason, only
one (1) robot per account is allowed into a tournament. Amateur ranking
points are currently for "fame only".

Professional
Non-Ranked - Professional tournaments command an entry fee.
The fee is typically US$5. Cash prizes can be won for such tournaments.
The size of the prizes given depends on the "Class" of the
Tournament (detailed below).

Professional
Ranked - These tournaments are also pay-to-enter, but the top
placegetters get ranking points awarded. These ranking points are
accumulated over an 8-week period. We plan on running an invitational
Tournament at the end of each 8-week period for the top 16 placegetters
for the period. Please see the Ranking System section for more details.

Tournament Classes:

Every
tournament is given a certain classification. The classification determines
the maximum number of entrants, the number of robots allowed per account
and the prize money distribution (if applicable).

TOURNAMENT RULES AND TERMS
OF OPERATION

Tournament Rules:

By
entering a tournament, you agree to the terms and conditions of our
Tournament Rules of Operation:
- Under
no circumstance whatsoever can you dispute the outcome of any
fight. The outcome of a Tournament Fight is absolute and final.
- RoboForge
reserves the right to reclassify a Tournament at any time prior
to its close off.
- RoboForge
reserves the right to postpone and/or cancel a Tournament at any
time, for any reason. If a pay-to-enter Tournament is canceled,
the entry fee will be credited back to your account. Cancellation
would only arise from events outside of our control (e.g. server
or network failure).
- RoboForge
reserves the right to disqualify a particular robot from any tournament,
at any time, for any reason. If you paid to enter your robot into
the tournament, the entry fee will be credited back to your account.
Disqualification would arise from such things as robot corruption,
hacking or data errors that cause the Tournament simulation to
crash.

Entry Fee Payments and Withdrawal of Winnings:

Entry
Fee Payments are made via WorldPay. If WorldPay invalidates
a payment, and the player uses the payment to enter a professional
tournament, any winnings from the tournament are voided. Withdrawals
of winnings are processed once per month. All withdrawal requests
(made via the Accounts screen in the Tournaments section of the game)
for each month are processed and paid (via PayPalä ) on the 20th
of the following month.

RoboForge Ranking System:

Overview
The
system will work on an 8 week rolling season basis. This means that
the top ranked players at any point in time will be determined by
the results from the last 8 weeks (8 fights at 1 ranked fight per
week). The system is designed so that players new to the game can
join in and have a shot at becoming a ranked player. At the end of
each 8 week season a date will be set for a "best of the best"
tournament, where the top 16 ranked players (i.e. based on results
for the 8 weeks preceding the tournament) will be invited to an exclusive
Tournament.

Divisions
There
will be 2 divisions for ranked players - Amateur and Professional.
There will be 1 ranked Amateur tournament, and 1 ranked Professional
tournament per week. There may be other tournaments during the week
as well, but these will not contribute towards ranking points. Amateur
tournaments are free to enter, while Professional tournaments command
a US$5 entry fee. For ranked tournaments, only 1 entry per account
will be allowed.

Deciding
on the top 16 may be difficult if there are players tied for 16th
place. If there is a tie, then the RoboForge panel will decide on
who gets through based on the history of each player. Factors considered
will be number of tournament wins, number of tournaments entered,
fights won etc. The panel’s decision will be irrefutable and final.

Designer
Status
The
designers will be allocated a status based on their ranking. In the
Challenge Rooms, their name will appear in a certain color depending
on their current status. To encourage entry into professional tournaments,
only professional rankings will give rise to status. Status will be
determined as follows:

In
Top 16 for the last Season: Grand Master
(color: Yellow)

Any
current season ranking points: Master
(color: Green)

Rankings
will be processed/determined after every ranked tournament is completed.
"Master" statuses are calculated after each tournament.
Grand Master status is only given upon qualification to a Grand Master
tournament and lasts until the next Grand Master Tournament.
