The robots in the game are mechanical and/or organic in nature. The game lets you build virtually anything by mixing and reusing components from the huge library in the game of over 300 parts that you can add to anyone of the 12 robot genres that come with the game.

To "forge" a robot it is as simple as clicking components together in the game. Components in the game can be Joints (moving servos), Sensors, CPUs, Energy Generators, Weapons, Shielding or just passive Limbs. Once constructed, the game lets you train your robots for offensive and defensive moves (all in 3D), and programme them to think during combat.

Wizards in the game will allow you to construct your first robot in minutes so you can then "tinker" with the settings, adding new limbs, painting and texturing, and so on. You can have an unlimited "garage" of robots in the game. When you are ready, the game lets you unleash your creation online in an arena against another pre-programmed robot. With the game your robot can compete online in tournaments, online on the Internet for prizes, including cash (that's right you can win cash with this game!!). Some online tournaments are free to enter - and the demo is free to download.

The robots in the game fight in a hand-to-hand style. The movement of the limbs and damage done to each other is calculated by the game using realistic physics. Mass-inertia and 3D torque calculations are used in the game simulation engine. The robot sensor systems in the game have scope and range. Damage is based on point of impact inertia and realistic resultant physics are calculated (i.e. limb recoil) in the game. Completely damaged limbs explode and so on. The game results in two robots that usually look like nothing you've ever seen before trying to annihilate each other. RoboForge is the newest game on the net and is set to be the game of all games.
